Do you accept insurance?

I am an out-of-network provider. To determine if you have out-of-network mental health coverage through your insurance carrier, the first thing you should do is call them. Check your coverage carefully and make sure you understand their answers.  Some helpful questions you can ask them:

  • What are my mental health benefits?
  • What is the coverage amount per therapy session?
  • How many therapy sessions does my plan cover?
  • How much does my insurance pay for an out-of-network provider?
  • Do I have a deductible to meet?
  • Is approval required from my primary care physician?

Psychotherapy services are reimbursable through some insurance providers through out-of-network coverage. In advance of our session, you should contact your provider and ask about mental health benefits, including number of sessions allowed, reimbursement policies and percentage, and approval requirements (if any). At the end of each month, I will provide an invoice that can be used to file a claim with your provider.

What is EMDR Therapy?

Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR)

Concerns treated with EMDR Therapy

Trauma (childhood, past, and recent)
-Anxiety
-Addictions (substance-related and behavioral)
-Eating Disorders
-Depression
-Performance Enhancement (ex: public speaking, sudden change in abilities in sports or other performance-related activity)
-Self Esteem

EMDR Therapy consists of 8 Phases of treatment.  Each of the phases serves a specific purpose.  The length of each phase is person-specific, therefore it is not possible to predict the number of sessions that each person will require.  However, research supports EMDR as an efficient and effective therapy, moving more quickly than traditional talk therapy.

What is a Good Faith Estimate?

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your care will cost.  Per the No Surprises Act, if you do not intend to submit to insurance for possible out-of-network reimbursement, you are entitled to a Good Faith Estimate. You decide the length and frequency of sessions and I do not bill, so no surprises, still a GFE can outline the projected cost of therapy at my rate for up to one year. See details on forms you complete prior to beginning therapy and we can discuss this.

Below is a list of your legal rights to a Good Faith Estimate:

  • You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.
  • Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate In writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.
  • If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
  • Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call +1 (312) 766-6780.
